This community was built to provide a place for people with a wide spectrum of political views to discuss human rights issues. While there are many communities on Livejournal that are based on issues (such as war or the death penalty) or political ideologies (such as socialism or anarchism), I wanted to create a space that was concerned with the basic rights of all human beings regardless of the wider political battles that often obscure real matters of life, death, and dignity.
I will not be a strict moderator, but I hope that all who post here will treat other members with the basic principles of respect and dignity that this community is founded on. If I notice emotional attacks replacing discussion, I will step in to keep this a safe space.
It would be helpful if new members introduce themselves, although I know that some people feel more comfortable lurking for a while.
